This multi-stakeholder regional dialogue is a vital milestone in our journey to galvanise unified action and strengthen our members’ advocacy efforts leading up to the 4th UN High-Level Meeting (UNHLM) on NCDs. It is pivotal in our mission to effectively tackle the NCD burden in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
By facilitating open dialogue, active participation, and strategic partnerships among a diverse array of regional stakeholders, this consultation seeks to:
1. Accelerate progress towards achieving our regional NCD priorities
2. Enhance the quality and impact of our advocacy initiatives
3. Boost the engagement of our regional leaders at the upcoming UNHLM on NCDs
The regional dialogue will bring together representatives from diverse sectors, including government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), healthcare professionals, academia, People Living with Non-Communicable Diseases (PLWNCDs) and youth NCD Advocates. This gathering will serve as a platform for dialogue, focusing on regional progress. Challenges and opportunities for NCD advocacy.
Objectives:
1. Facilitate Dialogue: Provide a conducive environment for open and constructive dialogue among stakeholders, allowing for the exchange of ideas, perspectives, and experiences related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
2. Engage Key Stakeholders: Actively involve representatives from various sectors, ensuring that all voices are heard and considered in the development of regional advocacy strategies and priorities.
3. Evaluate the progress of EMR countries in meeting global NCD targets. Highlight specific achievements, pinpoint areas needing improvement, and propose strategies for expanding successful initiatives.
